Grianán Festival 2017

Less than four weeks to go to the start of the 2017 An Grianan Festival. This year’s festival will be held from 8-10 June in Thomastown GAA Grounds as the giant marquee returns to Grennan.

The festival kicks off with a live cookery demonstration on the Thursday night by celebrity chef and food writer Edward Hayden of KCLR and TV3. Edward puts on a fantastic show, blending his amazing knowledge and talent with humour and sharp wit so this will be a great night of food and fun.

Friday night sees white collar boxing, with this year’s opponents travelling over from Danesfort GAA Club. This event was a memorable one last year as Thomastown defeated Bennettsbridge in the Battle by the Castle. This year promises to be closely contested with thirteen bouts down for decision.

The highlight of the festival sees the return of Ireland’s No. 1 live performer Nathan Carter. Nathan wowed the crowds last year in Grennan and given the popularity of his recent RTE show, tickets are in hot demand for this concert.

Last year’s festival attracted over 5,000 people to the various events and this year promises to be even bigger and better. The GAA Club would sincerely like to thank all who are supporting the festival events and would ask that you continue to support local businesses who have been very generous in their sponsorship.

An Grianan Festival kindly supported by Supervalu Thomastown and Mount Juliet Hotel.

Following his stunning performance at An Grianán Festival in June 2016,
Ireland's No.1 entertainer Nathan Carter and his band returns to headline the 2017 An Grianán Festival at Grennan GAA Grounds, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny on Saturday 10th June.

In conjunction with Supervalu Thomastown and Mount Juliet Estate

Nathan is now just over six years on the road with his band, and has released 7 studio albums, 3 live albums and 3 live DVDs. His song `Wagon Wheel`, the single taken from the album of the same name has become a huge commercial hit, and with over 3 million views on Youtube, the wheels continue to roll for this special song. Nathan has appeared on many TV shows to date, more recently fronting his own show "The Nathan Carter Show" on RTE.

Nathan is undoubtedly the No. 1 live attraction on the Irish music scene, and we are thrilled to welcome him back to the sunny southeast in June 2017.
