The Minors beat O'Loughlin Gaels on Wednesday 17th August in the first round of the Championship.  the final score was 4.15 to 2.13.  Although Thomastown were 8 points ahead in the finish it never felt like enough as O'Loughlin's narrowly missed scoring what looked like certain goals several times.  They were kept out by hard work from Thomastown and brilliant saves from Neil O'Mara.  Thomastown got off to a great start with a point from Andrew Keogh in the first 30 seconds and a goal from the hard-working Adrian Burke very shortly after that.  O'Loughlins responded with a goal of their own and three points to one point from Tucker before Adrian Burke scored another goal which gave Thomastown great heart and put them a goal ahead at this early stage.  O'Loughlins scored another goal and two points before Thomastown replied with another goal from Adrian Burke and a free from Michael Donnelly.  The score at half time was 3.5 to 2.6 to Thomastown.  The second half kicked off with three frees from Michael Donnelly and a further point and a goal from Tucker to only one point from O'Loughlins.  Thomastown pulled ahead and until the final whistle.  Scores were as follows: Andrew Keogh (1 point), Adrian Burke (3 goals, 1 point), Michael Donnelly (10 points, 8 of which were frees), Tucker O'Hanrahan (1 goal, 3 points).
A great win for the Minors.
