The Minors drew with Bennetsbridge in today's County Final in Nowlan Park.  The final score was 10 points all and the replay will take place next weekend.  Both teams fought for dominance in the persistent rain as hurls slipped out of wet hands, the sliothar evaded capture and efforts at speedy turns meant that, more often than not, the player ended up face down on the pitch.  Michael Donnelly scored the first point for Thomastown in the opening seconds from a free.  This was followed by two points from Tucker which put Thomastown three points up in the first seven minutes.  Bennetsbridge gradually fought back and caught up with Thomastown's score by the eighteenth minute putting the teams level at three all.  Further points from Tucker, Eoin Manning and Andrew Kehoe brought Thomastown's score to 5 points by half time but Bennetsbridge were at seven points by then.  In the first minutes of the second half Michael Donnelly put another free over the bar and Tucker scored again to make the teams level at seven points each.  Bennetsbridge pulled ahead once again but Thomastown never stopped trying and caught up again with another free from Michael Donnelly.  Another point from Tucker and a free from Michael and the teams were level at 10 points each at the end of two minutes of extra time.  A great team effort by the Minors who will do it all again next week, hopefully in better conditions.
