Thomastown Juniors beat Piltown by 9 points to win the Southern Junior Hurling Championship Final in Mullinavat on Saturday.  The final score was 2.25 to 22 points.  Althought Thomastown trailed by as much as 5 points at times, they gradually caught up and a brilliant point from the sideline by Dessie Walsh brought the score at full time to 19 points all and the match went to extra time.  Thomastown stepped up to the challenge with a goal from Jonjo Farrell which put them 4 points ahead followed in minutes by a spectacular goal from Adrian Burke.  The hard-working side never let up and pulled ahead by 10 points with only 2 minutes to go. A final point from Piltown made little difference at this stage and the blue and whites were sure of victory.  Darragh McGarry deserves a special mention for some great saves.  A brilliant effort from the team and a great day for Thomastown hurling!  Scorers were:  Jonjo Farrell goal 5pts (1 free), David Prendergast, 1pt, Michael Donnelly 6pts (3 frees), Stuart Waugh 4 frees, Robert O'Hanrahan 3pts (2 frees), Darren Burke 1pt, Dylan Waugh 2pts, Dessie Walsh 2pts, Gary Lehane 1pt, Adrian Bourke goal.
