  • U16s and Minors open up their league campaigns A John Donnelly goal from a 20m free four minutes into injury time earned the U16s a draw against Mooncoin last Friday night. Final score Mooncoin 2-10 Thomastown 1-13.The minor's first match of the league against Rower Inistioge was rearranged for Grennan and Thomastown ran out comfortable winners by 4-13 to 0-9

  • Nutrition Demonstration & Seminar with Michael Fennelly and Edward Hayden A new and innovative sport nutrition demonstration and seminar will be held by Thomastown GAA Club in the Concert Hall on Wed 9th April at 7.30pm.Hosted by Kilkenny county hurling star Michael Fennelly and celebrity chef Edward Hayden, the aim of the evening is to show sportsmen and women how to cook healthy and nutritious meals and also educate them on why these foods are suggested. There will be a total of three main dishes cooked with other demonstrations of snacks and light bites. The demonstration on meal preparation will be interactive and will be followed by a presentation on sports nutrition.   • Success for U16s in Piltown Well done to our Under-16's who got the year off to a good start by winning the Jim Reid Shield in Piltown on 21/3/14, beating Slieverue in the final by 6-9 to 3-8. Thanks to Piltown GAA Club for putting on a great tournament and for the hospitality afterwards.

  • New Helmet Standards Following motions passed at a special congress in November 2013, the GAA have now notified all clubs of new standards concerning hurling helmets. The bottom line is that the wearing of any helmet that does not meet the I.S.355 standard, or has been modified, breaches the association's rules. Such helmets are not covered under the players injury scheme.This I.S.355 is the only standard recognised by the Association and the list of suppliers is as follows:-• O'Neills• Aspis (Smyths Toys) • Azzurri• Cooper Helmets• Marc Helmets• Mycro Helmets• Atak SportsPlease Note: The change in the original communication is............ THE DRIVE FOR FIVE
The Story of Thomastown's Journey to All-Ireland Hurling Success 2012/13
During 2012/13, Thomastown G.A.A. Club’s hurling team created history by emerging from the Co. Kilkenny Junior Championship to subsequently take Leinster and All-Ireland titles. 
Running to over 100 pages, “The Drive for Five” follows the exploits of the team through the early rounds of the county championship, and continues as they venture into the Leinster championship, then onto the sacred ground of Croke Park and ultimately, All-Ireland success.
Commissioned and written by the club for the community, it looks back at the media coverage of the key games and provides an insight into the thoughts of the players, management team and club officials at various stages of the campaign. It recalls, through pictures and words, the odyssey that this team took us all on and the excitement of the community as it followed sons, grandsons, fathers, husbands, brothers, nephews, neighbours and friends on their way to the greatest sporting achievement of their lives. With most of the photos kindly provided by club members and supporters, personal and priceless moments in time are now preserved between the covers of this book for future generations to recall and enjoy.
Previous successes are also remembered, as 2012/13 marks the 30th anniversary of the 1983 intermediate championship title, the 50th anniversary of the 1962 junior championship title and the centenary of the 1913 junior title awarded to Mong Hurling Club. 
Priced at €10, the book is on sale in various retail outlets in Thomastown. Copies may also be ordered directly through Thomastown G.A.A. Club. 


HISTORY MADE AS THOMASTOWN BECOME 
2013 ALL IRELAND JUNIOR HURLING CHAMPIONS
10th February 2013 - Mark it down as the day when Thomastown's hurlers created history in Croke Park when they defeated Fullen Gaels of Manchester by 2-17 to 2-14 to become All Ireland Junior Hurling Champions. This was Thomastown GAA Club's greatest day for almost 70 years ago, and the names of this team will forever sit alongside those of the men who won the County Senior Hurling Championship in 1946.
